I am an introvert by nature. Don't get me wrong, I'm not antisocial. I don't hate people or crowds; they just make be a little uncomfortable at times. I even love the idea of going to concerts and parties, up until the point I get there and realize so many other people came too. I happen to enjoy interacting and socializing with people I know and can even be quite chatty when I'm around friends and loved ones. I just find meeting new people to be anxiety producing and exhausting. Introversion is the reason I love anesthesia. Just talk to the patient for a few minutes then deliver a syringe full of "Shut the heck up." Limited social interaction just like that. It's magic!
Being an introvert is also one of the reasons I love writing. Just me and words. Solitary...peaceful. The dilemma I face is that I would also like people to eventually read the things I write. So, as part of my journey in obtaining a degree in creative writing I am assigned to put myself out there. Create a website, social media presence and even blog. As someone not used to just sharing my thoughts with large groups this will be a new experience.
Besides, what do I even have to blog about? Let's see...I don't think most people want a list of my top 10 Pearl Jam songs or favorite 80's movies. Perhaps they would like to know what I love about the Pacific Northwest, that I think the best coffee in Gig Harbor is at Davenport's or the most awesome place to buy vinyl in the greater Seattle area is Easy Street Records. How about that I think the coolest winery in Woodinville is Mark Ryan's? It's decorated in grunge era memorabilia and features some great wines with names like Monkey Wrench and Crazy Mary.
These are thinks I may write about here. Being that this is a writing site some book reviews or recommendations may be in order as well as updates on my own writing process. So, this is what I can offer in a blog. I hope people find it enjoyable.
Welcome to my blog we'll see how this goes!
